You hurry over and raise the trapdoor. It opens easily, but you can’t see a ladder.

Carefully, you begin to lower yourself down, but slip, and drop with a thump. There’s a bang as the trapdoor closes above.

“Clumsy,” says a voice.

You stand up. A stone tunnel. A woman in a leather apron, flaming torch in hand. “I’m Yulia,” she says. “The blacksmith.”

“Ahh!”

She turns. You follow to an underground room. A jewelled dagger lies on a table.

“It’s magical,” says Yulia. “But can only be used once. Death can be beaten! Take it, and run from here.”
