Through the Chasms of Time
A Poem About Geology

stories painted across the walls a history of time on Earth
with each layer, a tale of what was it’s a story of there and everywhere
details laid out horizontally continuously distributed across the lands
memorials of lifeforms lost to the ages one story becomes many
individual deviations make their mark tubes and channels frozen in time
cracks and fissures reveal tense moments of the past shifting and realigning to better find balance
a range of growth and development curves and bends and peaks
every strata has a story to tell stories of a different time and place
chasing through the chasms of time on a search to unravel the mystery
so many lessons we can learn from this world if only we knew how to listen
The Earth uses a slightly different clock than we do. In this long time, layers of sediment (and the debris and disturbances therein) tell a story of what happened. These are what gives some of the most iconic scenes of uplifts and canyons their beautiful striped colors.
