Through A Camera, You See An Unique World At Night
“The night gave me black eyes, but I used them to find the light and joy”

Going out at night is not my cup of tea. I get used to staying at a cozy home when it gets dark.
But Peter told me that at night, the world looks unique and very special to him because the darkness gives it different colors.
Peter is an amateur photographer, and he has a passion for taking nightscapes.
His words aroused my curiosity.
What color would night give the world? How special would it become at night?
One evening, we visited a castle that is built on the water. When the sun sank in the west completely, darkness covered everything.
However, whenever cars were passing by on the nearby street, their strong headlights illuminated the sky, plating the castle with a layer of gold, which you would never see under the daylight.

The blending of light and the reflection of the castle in the water created a beautiful picture. Peter captured quickly the beauty of that moment with his camera.
When the surrounding area was plunged into darkness again, the starlight looked particularly dazzling in the sky.
The castle under the twinkling stars seemed more mysterious and full of temptation.
The other trip to Hallwiler lake at night allowed me to discover how the night makes our world unique and so special.
Hallwiller is a famous holiday resort in Switzerland. Lots of hotels and restaurants along the lake have been built.
When we arrived at the lake in the dusk, the parking lot of the nearby hotel was still full. You can imagine the bustling scene of tourists during the day.
However, darkness drove all of them away and left us an empty lakeshore.
We walked onto the same empty dock. The small town on the opposite side of the lake was hidden in the shadows of the mountains, but the reflections of the lights from thousands of houses left beams in the water.
Through the camera, the sky was no longer only dark, but alternated between cyan and rose, like a colorful screen.
It was quiet at night, except for the occasional chatter and laughter from the restaurant on the shore, there was only silence all around.
A swan swam silently to the shore, I couldn’t see his face in the darkness, but I saw him cruising leisurely. He seemed also to enjoy the quietness of the night.
At this moment, I comprehended why Peter loves night shootings so much.
Standing under the starry sky, we found that this world is so gentle and magnificent, and this is something unique that we can’t realize in a noisy and bright day.
The boundless mind of the night embraces all things compassionately into its heart, including those human beings who are struggling in the sufferings. So the night is peaceful.
Let us stop here for a while, let time slow down!
Let’s count the stars in the sky, communicate with the universe and our souls!
Let us just enjoy this beautiful night quietly!
Thank you Peter for having persuaded me to walk out of my comfort zone and helping me find unexpected joy in the dark night.
