Three Quotes That Keep Me Going When Time’s Get Tough

The right quote has the power to change lives. I love quotes, like this one from Dolly Parton, “If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one.”
Beautiful, isn’ it? Simple, effective, powerful, and embedded with wisdom.
With everything going on (the elections, Covid Pandemic, controversy regarding that new movie Borat), I feel it’s important to share my top three quotes on life. These are the quotes that keep me going whenever I’m feeling down. In a way, they’ve helped shape a piece of who I am today.
“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain” — Dolly Parton
Life comes with ups and downs, both good and bad. Some days you may feel happy as can be, and other days you might feel down, depressed — just plain miserable.
Emotions are like tools because if appropriately utilized, we can use our feelings to significant changes that need to be made in our lives.
For example, yesterday, I was feeling pretty down about my financial situation. Today, however, I think determined more than ever make a cause, by changing my habits and doing more.
The thing with depression is that it’s there to point out the wrongs in your life. What needs fixing?
It might be raining, but add a little sunshine into your life, and you’ll get the rainbow.
“If you want to fly, give up everything that weighs you down” — Buddha
In Buddhist philosophy, we commonly discuss the importance of desires, and what can be done to utilize our desires to design a better life.
By learning to let go of our attachments and our cravings, we free ourselves from a life of suffering.
You can’t take your favorite possessions with you when you go. Why let them weigh you down while you’re alive?
“My life is my message” — Mahatma Gandhi
This has been my favorite quote since as far as I can remember.
Mahatma Gandhi is a legend in my eyes because he sacrificed his earthly desires to better society.
He used his everyday struggles to teach a message to others.
Gandhi singlehandedly led one of the world’s most massive movements, freeing his country from the British rule. He didn’t protest, riot, or burn down buildings. No. He helped India reach its freedom through a philosophy of non-violent, non-cooperation.
Your life can impact others in ways you couldn’t even imagine. It all starts with your actions, building character, deciding what to believe in.
Your life is your message.
