Three Letters I Think Would Help Black Lives Matter.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am 100% for and support the Black Lives Matter movement. I have been actively educating, advocating, and fighting for the movement for the last 4 years.

For some reason, the words Black Lives Matter have become a trigger for many people in our country today.

Not Blue Lives Matter.

Not All Lives Matter.

But Black Lives Matter.

(for the record, if the other two don’t bother you, but Black Lives Matter does, then the operative word is black. That should tell you something)

The original message of the movement has been so distorted throughout the years that if you ask most people what the group stands for, they’ll say something along the lines of “it’s a violent militia group” or “a bunch of rioters and looters”. In reality, the platform began to bring awareness to an issue that our country has faced for a long time: Black lives have not been given the same treatment as other lives in this nation, nor the justice this nation promises for all.

I believe there’s a word that could help the movement. A word that could solve a lot of confusion for what the group stands for up front so that people could focus on the main message and not spend time fighting over definitions.

Are you ready for that word?

It’s too…T-O-O

Probably not what you were thinking. I believe this word has the ability to clear A LOT of confusion before it even happens.

#BlackLivesMatterToo

See, when you add the word too in the end you are acknowledging that other lives matter. It’s that simple. Other lives matter, we want to make people aware that ours does too!

I hope that when you look at the protests that are taking place across our country, you truly understand what it is people are fighting for. The black community has been under attack and under-supported since the founding of our nation. Black Lives Matter is simply saying we deserve that same seat at the table of equality and justice that everyone else receives.

Much Love

Mike
