Summary

This web page provides basic guidelines for formatting articles, focusing on the proper use of titles, subtitles, and images.

Abstract

The web page titled "Three Basics That Will Help" offers straightforward advice on formatting articles, specifically addressing the correct use of titles, subtitles, and images. The author, who receives numerous articles with incorrect formats, aims to simplify the process for writers and editors. The article begins with the importance of a clear title, which should be highlighted using the "big T" formatting option. Next, the author discusses the subtitle, which should be concise and formatted using the "small T" option. Lastly, the article emphasizes the need for an image, which should be placed directly after the subtitle. The author concludes by summarizing these three basic rules and encourages writers to follow them to streamline the editing process.

Bullet points

  • The title should be written, highlighted, and formatted using the "big T" option.
  • The subtitle should be written, highlighted, and formatted using the "small T" option, and should not exceed two lines.
  • An image should be included in the article, placed directly after the subtitle.
  • Following these three basic rules will simplify the editing process and reduce feedback from editors.
  • The order of formatting should be: title, subtitle, and then the picture with its original source linked below.

Three Basics That Will Help

They are straightforward too!

With the number of articles my two publications receive with incorrect formats, I wanted to write a short and simple example of the issues we constantly feedback on.

I suggest that 45% of the articles we receive get this wrong.

Title

Let's start with the title, I see many people inserting a picture at the top of their article, or sometimes they will write a title but not use the title font.

Please write your title, highlight it and click on the big "T."

Subtitle

Write your subtitle, highlight it and click on the small "T" it is that simple. Your subtitle should go under your title, and I did tell you this would be basic.

Please make sure your subtitle is a maximum of two lines.

Picture

We require a picture in your article, and we do not want it halfway down your page. So please insert this directly after your subtitle, like so.

Basics

If you follow these three basic rules, it will cut down hours of work for the editors, so please help us, help you. I would imagine that it is frustrating getting this constant feedback from us.

Please follow this process in the order it was made:

  1. Title
  2. Subtitle
  3. The picture with its original source linked below.

I appreciate the time you spent reading this and hope it serves you well in the future. If you have any questions, then please let me know.
