Three Badass Quotes by Rumi To Face The Unknown

Wisdom for those who are facing crossroads in their life.

I believe each poem is an email that God, the universe, or whatever you call it, sends from the dimension of ideas to the main tray of the poet’s consciousness.

In those emails, the universe gives us clues as to where we should walk when we find ourselves at a crossroads in times of uncertainty.

When this happens to me, I usually turn to Rumi.

Rumi, along with Boukowski, is the toughest poet for me, for he speaks bitter truths that few of us want to face.

But his wisdom is medicine for the soul.

I find answers in the emails (poems) that the universe sent to Rumi hundreds of years ago.

Here are the three that help me the most to make difficult decisions when I am at a crossroads, and I don’t know whether to continue in the same direction or change to a different one.

They are complex because they tell bitter truths. But I hope they help you.

1. It’s not the right time

“The world is like a tree and we the fruit that is not yet ripe and clings to the branch firmly because for the palace it is not ready.” — Rumi

When you hold on to something with all your might, it is because you still need that something.

Indeed, where you are, you have things left to learn or scars to heal.

Resisting the temptation of a new opportunity can be very anticlimactic. But when something inside you says, “Hold on a little longer,” it is because, as Rumi suggests, either that opportunity is not yet ripe or you are not ready to open that door.

So please don’t force it.

When will you be?

2. Yes, it is time

“When at last ripe and sweet and juicy the fruit has become, biting his lips he will drop it. Thus, when bliss sweetens our mouths, the taste of this world no longer appeals to us. To cling to this world is immaturity.” — Rumi

Living from a place of learning, not knowing, is necessary.

To mature is to learn. But to repeat the course when you have already learned the lesson is laziness, immaturity, and refusing to take the next step out of fear.

But it makes no sense because even if you want to cling to your comfort zone, you will self-sabotage yourself sooner or later. After all, you will not want to continue doing what you were doing.

Because you will no longer be satisfied with that relationship, that job, that thing that used to make sense in your life.

Look, the things you lose along the way are those that once belonged to you but no longer because you are no longer that person. You have changed, and your new self needs different things.

Therefore, you will choose the door of change because there is no conformism capable of compensating for the monotony of living something that no longer belongs to you. And much less capable of holding you back when opportunity knocks at your door, and you are ready.

3. Dare to take the right step

“Everyone is born to do a job, inside the heart carries the innate desire to fulfill it. Neither hand nor foot moves without desire”. — Rumi

If you could ask your 99-year-old self for some advice, he would probably say, “Just become the person we wanted to be when we were kids.”

And for doing so, the sooner you start listening to the whisper of your intuition, the better. So turn down your fear noise, listen to your sixth sense, and you’ll get further.

And you know why? — Let me tell you something that will blow your mind,

Because achieving your dream is not the end but the beginning.

Ergo, things will not improve because you achieve what you long for; surely, life will be much more uphill, and you will have to face new challenges.

But with a difference: you will be aligned with your purpose, which will not only help you overcome any test, but you will do it with a smile.

For the climber, a mountain is not a punishment; it is his way of life, AND HE LOVES IT.

As Rumi says, 1) everyone is born for something in this life, 2) your dissatisfaction will not stop until you find it, and 3) when you find what you are passionate about, do not be afraid because the same desire that burns in your heart will be the fuel to overcome any trial you encounter along the way.
