Thoughts That Will Make Your Day
Food for our mental health and soul

I was thinking about the bad habits that all of us have to appreciate, treasure, miss and value something or someone only in their absence, not in their presence. We value money when we lose all of it. We appreciate time when we run out of it. We treasure our family when they’re far away. We miss winter when it’s summer. We miss summer when it’s winter. We complain because we have to go to work and when we lose our job we complain even more.
We complain when our kids are small and cause trouble. We miss them when they grow up and they’re gone. It’s then when we wish to turn back time to when our kids were small. We argue with our parents because they tell us what to do or how to live our lives. We miss them with all our heart when they’re gone. Truly gone. Then we wish they were here with us wanting to obey and listen to their precious advice and give them one last hug.
Sometimes we start to value our lives after we hit rock bottom or when life hits us hard. We nag because we don’t have the things we wish we’d have, and we forget to enjoy the things that we have, the things that are present with us. Why should we delay to say I love you? Why shouldn’t we fight for what we really want? Why should we restrict ourselves from hugging our loved ones? At least an air hug now that times are difficult? Why shouldn’t we be able to say I’m sorry from the heart?
Today is the right time. We always believe that we’ll always have time. Let’s not forget time runs out quick. We many times believe that we’re not going to lose someone or something until we face the crude reality of loss. The past is gone and the future is uncertain. The present is all we really have. The present with our loved ones and the things that we possess. Never take the present for granted. We don’t know what the present will be tomorrow. The so-called future.
