Those Tiny Moments Of Black History
Black History Month is about the rediscovery

I once lost a poem called “Mule Blues.” I used to read it at poetry events. It was one of my favorites. Then, suddenly, it vanished. It has been missing like 10 years.
Then, the other day looking deeply through a stack of misplaced documents, there it was — “Mule Blues.” It is a story of Black people in America, a snippet of African American life told through big events.
The copy I found still had a note to myself at the top I wrote the last time I read it — “Go slow.” I wanted to read the poem correctly.
