This Will Be Awesome
I promise. Come and find out. Join us.
Writing is nothing without reading the work of others. Other authors can inspire me, let me see things from another angle, tempt me to share my view, or start a discussion in the comment section.
I’ve read many great articles this week and would like to share those with you. I am sure you’ll find a new perspective for yourself, an answer that you were looking for, or another entertaining story.
Let’s make it interactive and social. Share your thoughts, share your greatest articles, share your highlights of this week in the comment section.
I’ll go first.
About Writing and the Writer’s Community
Walter Bowne published an article about “Writing Effective Sentences”. This is quite a refreshing article since it deals with the basic elements of each article. The sentence. He dedicates one article to this topic and shares different ways of phrasing a sentence. Walter also provides input on which sentence could be used in which situation. Check it out here.
Now, if you master the different sentence structures, you are ready to become a skilled writer. That’s where Nishi Kashyap joins the discussion. The main takeaways for me were to write consistently and to separate the process into phases: research phase, writing phase, editing phase. You can read the article here.
Assuming the article is out. Then there’s a great community of fellow authors and readers who read, clap, highlight, and even comment on your articles. Chris Tavner shares his thoughts about the positivity of the community here and Morris T analyses different common responses here. The authors highlight the positivity of the community and provide ideas on how to increase interaction. For example, this could be done by differentiating the type of answers (why did you like the article? Which part did you like? What exactly resonates with you?). This is something that I am working on, as well.
Now, the impossible happened — your article went viral. Many authors provide a toolkit and X steps on how to write a virtual post. Allison writes about the benchmarking process and the comparison of each post/article following the viral one. You find her story here.
About Content Creation
Let’s have a look at the content, as well. Ellen McRae provides a fresh perspective on content creation. Too often, someone adopts a writing style or a content strategy that has worked well for someone else, instead of sticking to an own style and own ideas. You’ll find her story here. And if you get stuck while finding your style, your voice, your specific content, you can reach out to Jessica Lynn who shares valuable input and motivation on why there is no reason to fail at content creation. Here’s the story.
Bonus Story: About Success
Since a lot is about success, about succeeding as a writer, etc., let’s look at Dennis De Silva’s perspective on success. He shares his experience from focussing on things that were less important than they appeared in the moment and from shifting the focus to the things that matter. (Brittany Alicia Carter — FYI, since we discussed the matter in another article)
