This week is ‘National Library Week’. It celebrates the importance of libraries, and encourages reading.

Libraries have existed since humans first started making marks on clay tablets.

They have helped to shape societies from then until now, although books haven’t always been available to all, libraries being owned privately until the first public library in the UK opened in 1655.

Things have moved on to the extent there are now library book vending machines! What a great idea. This means they can be situated anywhere.

So, where you can get a sandwich and a can of soda from a machine, you could get a book eg hospitals, or on the beach.

This corgi doggo (above) is taking a bit of a break to rest his eyes before he plunges back into the worlds he’s finding in the library.
