This was such a good article to read.
I am a patriots fan also and although I enjoyed reading this article
I respectfully disagree and challenge the points in this post.
going through each point where you believe coach Bill had a great fall:
1. Bill let Tom go:
- It wouldn't have mattered whether Brady stayed or not, the pats needed more help. If Brady would have stayed he'd be getting sacked in the pocket all the time just like Mac and Zappe with no receivers to throw too. Brady is a big part of the patriots success but there were so many other players that go unrecognized in the patriots dynasty and wouldn't have made it as far without them.
- Logan Mankins
- Nate Solder
-Bryan Stork
-Deion Branch
( and this is just the offense )
2. Bill benched Butler:
I believe this point is irrelevant also. Regardless if Butler played they still would have lost because the game is won in the trenches. The eagles had 538 Total yards of offense that game and I don't believe it was the passing defenses fault. There was no pressure. The pats D didn't make a single sack or yards for loss the entire game. Butler can't save you when your D-line is giving the QB all day to throw.
3. Bill Drafts Poorly:
Over the span of Bills entire career I believe his good picks outshine his bad. The names in my first point he drafted plus
- Asante Samuel
-Vince Wilfork
-Jamie Collins
-Brandon Meriweather
-Jerod Mayo
-Dont'a Hightower
-Richard Seymour
( along with the other obvious names Jules, Tom, Rob, Gostkowski etc. )
Bills bread and butter when signing players is in Free Agency anyways, it's better for your organization because you sign low and sell high.
He takes players that other teams couldn't make anything out of and wins with them.
-Kyle Vanoy
-Eric Rowe
-Trent Brown
-Chris Hogan
-Danny Amendola
- Chris Long
4. Bill doesn't develop QBs:
I agree with this point in the respect of Bill choosing Josh Mcdaniels and Bill Obrien to run his offense being the main reason why his QBs don't work.
Bill has even said "Good players can't overcome bad coaching."
Those two parasites are an example of good places having bad people. When those two are given the keys to run things on their own
they run an organization into the ground and their are of players on podcasts now speaking out on their experiences with them.
I agree it is Bills fault at the end of the day and he was able to get away with it for so long cause Brady was there coaching while playing.
5. Bill holds grudges
I disagree with this because at the end of the day Bill is about money not grudges.
Jujus contract is for 25 million over three years.
Meyers contract for 33 million over three years with 21 million guaranteed.
regardless of meyers stats he's still on a team that isn't going to the playoffs and won a few more games than we did. He wasn't worth was he's paid now.
Several players that have played for the patriots have said
" You don't go to New England to get paid, you go there to win championships."
In the 25 years I've enjoyed watching the patriots
Bill has financially made the cheapest way to create dynasty in history.
I love this article and I love the pats, Bill gave me 20 years of some the best times of my life.
I'm okay with giving him a few seasons of grace to figure it out if he wants.
Thanks for sharing and best regards, I look forward to reading and responding to more of your posts.
