This Too Shall Pass
Women Are Strong, They Always Were…Happy Women’s Day
“You go after my weak spot and I will show you how strong I am.” —K A Simran
The man in the movie ‘My best friend’s Wedding’ was telling Julia Robert’s character about how his grandmother used to say, “This too shall pass.”
Megan wiped her tears like Julia Roberts’s character in the movie did and turned the television off.
She had not slept since last night. Her eyes were tired and red from all the crying. No, the movie was not the reason, the ugly truth was.
The ugly truth she had found out about her husband.
She got out of bed and went to check up on her husband, who was sleeping in the next room.
She opened the door without making any noise. Her husband was deep asleep.
“Are all men like him?” She thought.
Her inner voice immediately corrected her,
“Real men never do what this person did. Real men don’t hide the truth. They don’t emotionally trap women in relationships. They respect you enough to tell you everything, even if it means losing you. They love honesty.”
It was true.
Her husband had not done any of them. He did not deserve to be called a man!
She had been with her husband for seven years, and they got married one month back. She had left her city, her friends, and even her job to live with her husband in the same city. They loved each other very much, or she thought so.
When she confronted her husband about the things, he at first denied everything but finally confessed.
They fought all night.
Megan remembered the conversation she had with her friends two months ago, regarding her big decision to leave everything behind for him. When her friends tried to stop her from doing so, she told them, “He cannot leave his job right now, but I can. I love him very much. We love each other.”
Today she was asking herself thousands of questions at once, “Whether the decision she had taken at that time had actually been the right move or not? Do I want a life without him? Would I be able to live without him?”
Megan knew that she would never forget her husband’s betrayal and his confession of being a sex addict.
She poured herself a cup of coffee, and sat down at the kitchen table by the window. The Sun, with its orange color, felt like it was staring right at her soul as if listening to her thoughts. The sunlight was working as a pain reliever for her.
It reminded of her mother’s last words, “You will never be alone, sweetheart. Always remember, your name is Meghan, it means the child of light.”
It filled her with positive energy. She could feel herself surrounded by life.
Megan asked her inner voice, “Am I ready to leave everything behind once again, this time for myself?”
It said, “It may seem difficult right now, but remember, this too shall pass.”
