This Texas Republican’s Words Are Worth Repeating

He basically says Trump is a lunatic

Texas is a battleground state this year

There are many Congressional seats which the Democrats are hoping to flip this election. There are Republicans in office who are vulnerable with close races currently. In just over a week, we will know who the winners are. Whether the Democrats can prevail remains to be seen.

Among two of the more famous United States Senators who are in danger of losing to their Democratic opponents are Sen. Mitch McConnell and Sen. Lindsey Graham. Both have shown themselves to be hypocrites and liars (just as is the President whom they continue to support). The Democrats running against them have been basically tied or sometimes leading in the polls with these Republicans.

Another place which is a target area for Democrats this year is the State of Texas. Democrats are hoping to gain seats in Congress and also to flip the Texas House. Of course, they are campaigning hard for a new President.

Texas is a battleground state which Donald Trump and Joe Biden are both hoping to win. The polls have been close although Biden has been leading. Beto O’Rourke has been campaigning heavily for Democrats.

An article in The New York Times on October 25, 2020, by Manny Fernandez and Reid J. Epstein reported on the Texas area of Bedford, which is a suburb northeast of Fort Worth. They reported that the Democrats are getting help from Republicans.

Todd A. Smith is a Republican who served in the Texas House of Representatives for sixteen years. He left office in 2013. The district he represented ia a fast-growing suburb of middle-class and affluent people.

Mr. Smith said he is supporting the Democrat, Jeff Whitfield, in the race for his old seat in the legislature. He has a sign in front of his house which says, “Republicans for Biden 2020.”

When it came time to decide whom he would support in the race, Mr. Smith said he had no hesitation — he threw his endorsement to the Democrat in the race.

Mr. Smith was quoted as saying, “This is the Trump party. If you give me a reasonable Republican and a crazy Democrat, then I will still vote for the Republican. But if you give me a lunatic Republican and a reasonable Democrat, then I’m going to vote for the Democrat, and that applies in the presidential race, and it applies in the Whitfield race.”

This former Texas House member is just one of the latest in a long line of Republicans who have come out forcefully against Trump. They have declared that they will vote for Biden.

It is well known that Trump has alienated the Bush Family since he first started to run for the Presidency. Trump has mercilessly bullied and ridiculed this proud family of Texas.

Democrats are hoping there are many more Republicans who feel the same way as Mr. Smith does about Trump and Biden.

This election is important for all citizens of the United States of America. BE SURE TO VOTE!!!
