In India, garbage is a systematic and structural problem. Lack of proper waste management infrastructure and awareness among the people has resulted in piles of garbage that can be found on almost every street corner.

The issue not only affects the aesthetics of the cities but also poses a serious threat to the environment and public health.

What is special today for this story?

Swachhta Diwas (Cleanliness Drive day) is observed every year on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti (birth day), which is today, “the 2nd Oct”.

On this Swachhta Diwas, I want to shine a light on the unsung heroes in our daily lives — the incredible cleanliness staff who work tirelessly to keep our surroundings pristine — and I want to dedicate my story to these heroes and their job💪🌼

Cleanliness for me isn’t just about our environment; it’s a reflection of our inner selves as well.

Cleaning up the mess outside helps clean up the inner mess too.

When we take the time to maintain a clean and organized environment, it allows us to focus, think clearly, and feel a sense of calm within ourselves. It becomes a practice of self-care and self-respect.

No wonder the countries topping the list on the Human Index are the most clean countries on this planet.

By admiring and appreciating these everyday heroes, we can learn to cultivate the same sense of responsibility and pride in every aspect of our lives.

As a life coach, I’m constantly inspired by the impact of their work on society and on every individual.

This Swachhta Diwas, let’s salute these champions of cleanliness and also the 2% champion within us as well. Let’s make that 2% to 20% if you are a 10x person like me.

Let’s pledge to contribute to a garbage-free surrounding by making cleanliness a way of life, inside and out.
