This Statement Will Piss Off Everyone Who Says “Quality > Quantity”
“Quality and quantity are not opponents, but teammates.”
You can’t produce quality content from day
- Picasso painted a lot, improving over time to create masterpieces.
- Rowling wrote many stories, leading to the beloved Harry Potter series.
So, true quality emerges from the sheer volume of work.
The essence is in the journey — trial and error, learning and adapting.
It’s about nurturing quantity to eventually refine it into the highest quality.
But this leads us to a thought-provoking question:
Why Are We So Obsessed With Perfectionism When Nothing Is Perfect?
The Illusion of Perfectionism
Everything that has been created, evolves with time.
Whether it’s humans, habits, places, or even objects — like smartphones.
The first phone I ever used was a tiny Samsung that didn’t even support WhatsApp.
And look at the phones now! What was perfect in 2009 is not the same in 2023. And what’s perfect in 2023, would never be the same in 2030.
The definition of perfectionism is different for everyone and changes over time.
But what if you feel anxious, pressured, or burnt out during your “perfection process”?
Is it worth it?
Not at all!
It will only lead to fear of failure and negatively impact your creativity.
So, what really matters is learning, growth, and progress; not perfectionism.
- Write a piece that feels good and “publish”
- DM someone you’ve always wanted to talk to
- Create a design and put it out for the world to see
Don’t wait for your work to be perfect, but focus on improving your craft with every piece you create.
That’s what’ll make all the difference.
As said by Alice Walker,
In nature, nothing is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways and they’re still beautiful.
