Summary

The article outlines the Ladder Experiment by Neville Goddard, which aims to demonstrate the power of human imagination in manifesting reality through a simple act of envisioning climbing a ladder before sleep.

Abstract

The article introduces readers to Neville Goddard's Ladder Experiment, a method designed to illustrate the power of imagination in shaping reality. The experiment involves vividly imagining the act of climbing a ladder as one falls asleep, reinforced by consciously avoiding ladders during waking hours and affirming the intention not to climb one. Over three nights, the participant is to repeat this imaginal act, which according to Goddard's teachings, should manifest in the participant's life, proving the efficacy of the imagination in creating reality. The author of the article shares a personal testimony of successfully manifesting a ladder in their life, despite initial skepticism, suggesting that the subconscious can bring about events through the power of belief and imagination.

Opinions

  • The author initially doubts Goddard's teaching that we are God, emphasizing the omnipotence of human imagination.
  • There is a belief that heaven or the ultimate happy place is not an external location but within the individual, residing in the human imagination.
  • Neville Goddard is portrayed as challenging conventional beliefs by suggesting that everything is possible through the power of imagination.
  • The article conveys that the same principle used in the Ladder Experiment can be applied to manifest other desires such as money, health, and relationships.
  • The author encourages readers to try the experiment themselves, regardless of skepticism, to prove whether the manifestation of imagination into reality is possible.
  • The author's personal experience is shared as evidence that the technique works, even if one does not perform the visualization perfectly.
  • The article promotes the idea that we are already unconsciously manifesting events in our lives through our beliefs and imagination.

This Simple Experiment Will Prove to You The Power Of Your Imagination

The first time I listened to Neville Goddard was in a lecture where he talked about me being “God.” It was a shock. He emphasized that all things are possible if we can feel them in our imagination. Thus, the human imagination is the substance of “I Am” — God omnipresent and omnipotent.

This made me question his teaching and my beliefs too. I am a born and raised Roman Catholic. And like many Christians and most other religions, God is in a place. Depending on religions, that place has many names. For me, it was heaven — somewhere beyond the sky.

What if I told you that heaven or that ultimate happy place is within you? It is your wonderful human imagination — that place you assign to another, the home of the all-powerful. But, don’t take my words for it; let us prove that you can create an event from nothing using your imagination.

From an Imaginary Act to a Reality of Climbing a Ladder — The Ladder Experiment Lecture

When Neville taught this lecture, he wanted to challenge people to test their imagination. To test the law — “what is within is without.”

The idea was simple. They (his audience) could, in time, manifest themselves climbing a ladder. If you could go to sleep feeling yourself climbing a ladder, then it would materialize itself in a series of events but without you assisting it to come to pass.

Thus, with the same principle, you can enjoy money, health, relationships, and virtually anything — by feeling your wish as a reality in your imagination.

Here are the instructions for this experiment:

  • When you are about to fall asleep, choose a different sleeping position than your usual. This is so that you do not dose off easily, giving you time for this experiment.
  • Once you are comfortable, start imagining yourself in a scene where you are about to climb a ladder. Do not see a person about to climb the ladder, rather see a ladder in front of you.
  • Stretch your left hands (in your imagination), and grab one side of the ladder. Use your right hand to firmly hold the other side — notice the feeling of your grip.
  • Now feel your feet on the step of the ladder, and start climbing up.
  • Climb until you reach the top of your ladder, then climb down. Vividly feel the sides of the ladder and the steps where your feet stand, just as you would in the physical world.
  • Keep going up and down until you fall asleep, do this for three nights.
  • During your waking time, write to yourself several notes saying, “I will not climb a ladder.” Put them where you can easily see them (fridge, wallet, screen saver, wallpaper, etc.)
  • Make sure you do not assist in any way the experiment by deliberately going to a place where you know there is a ladder and climb it.

Neville Goddard’s Points Regarding the experiment

If you end up climbing a ladder days after performing the imaginal act before sleep, then you have proven to yourself that your imagination materializes in your outer world.

Neville said to those who experienced climbing the ladder in the outer world that the ladder is a placeholder for whatever you want in your life. And just like climbing a ladder is so simple that you don’t have to question how to go about it, so should be your attitude towards the manifestation of your goals in life.

My Testimony: I climbed the ladder, Even though I Thought I Did the Technique Wrong

I did this experiment with a lot of skepticism. So when it manifested, I didn’t know what to feel. Now that I think about it, there is no way you can assist in its manifestation, even by trying to do the techniques right.

Long story short, I was prompted to call my girlfriend when I was at church, and I had to use the back door so that people won’t be disturbed by my movement. Then, when I reached outside, there was a ladder in the corridor where I went for the call.

I knew it was the one I had to climb because it resembled the one in a picture I saw on the instructions YouTube video. It looked old. And like in my imaginary act, it went into the broken sealing.

Final Takeaway

This experiment is a great way to start your journey of deliberate manifestation. If you were to look closely in your life, you are already manifesting the events in your life.

As you believe them, you give them the breath to exist in your life, just like you do when you imagine climbing a ladder. Try this experiment as you go to sleep for three days.

Prove it to yourself whether it works or not. If you are skeptical like I was, try it so that at least you prove that it doesn’t work. I would love to hear the stories of what happened when you tried this. Until next time, take care!
