“How utterly bound to the physical world of bodies is writing, one of the awesome products of the human mind.” — Haas 1998

Here, the author talks about the importance of handwritten notes.
Typing notes on the computer is a more efficient way to retain the information being given. However, the benefits you get from handwritten notes are too big to simply overlook.
Writing needs more brain activity than typing. It makes your brain process information in a different way. You not only have to understand what you’re listening to, but you also need to transcribe it in your own way. We all learn in different ways, but our brain works alike.
Writing forces your brain to turn your memory retention switch on.
I seem very old-school to talk about handwritten notes like this but bear with me.
I have never written any school notes until I started university. It could be that my Cegep program (Architecture Tech) required very little notes to take. It could also be that I never could afford to buy myself a personal computer.
Once I purchased my computer for university, I was ready to kill my classes thanks to all the typed notes.
My first semester went HORRIBLE.
I was unable to understand the course because I was unable to retype the course’s material in my own words.
Unfortunately, the teacher explained too fast for handwritten notes. Nevertheless, I pushed through. & managed to pass the class, even though I had not all the info.
The notes I took were incomplete, but the information that I wrote was understandable. It even helped me to pass the class.
Too bad I dropped out (lol).
Now, I am focusing on myself and looking for ways to grow as a person and (hopefully) as a successful businessman.
Benefits I see from Handwritten notes
Writing enhances memory, so I write principles I want to keep in my mind throughout the day
Writing is a way to free space from your working memory. Every time I have an idea, a thought or a future plan, I write it down. That way there is more space in my working memory for productive sports.
Writing puts farfetched thoughts into a more rational state. Putting things on paper(literally) is an amazing way to clear out your goals & things you need to do. Every day, I write at least one page into a booklet I bring everywhere.
I am looking forward to seeing what it’s going to look like in a year!
I know that it is a subjective approach, but it is my opinion.
I would love to know if you agree/ disagree with me
