This Is Why You Won’t Make More Than $100 On Medium

You are probably doing it all wrong

I am new to Medium, and in a short time, I have been made a top writer in two different categories. This could not be possible if I wasn’t taking Medium seriously. I made a few dollars in the first month despite writing so many articles. From the second month, the money began increasing and I was seeing an increase in the number of views too.

Now I am happy to say that I have started making $5 to $8 a day and have already earned over $300. This is quite motivating and inspiring for me. It makes me feel that self-publishing is not as bad as some writers think. In fact, I have worked for no publication but Write To Inspire from day one. Only a few posts were published with the Illumination in the past.

I wonder why some writers say that they aren’t making money writing on Medium. I am also surprised to know that only 6 to 7 percent of writers earn over $100 a month on this site. If you are one of those aspiring writers who have been struggling for their survival, you will have to remember a couple of things. Hopefully, this will help you get more views and earn enough money month after month.

You Don’t Show Up Daily

You cannot make anything if you don’t sit and write daily.

It is one of the major mistakes Medium writers make. I have seen writers publishing a couple of stories in a month and having high expectations. It is not something Medium is made for. On this site, quantity is as important as quality. It doesn’t matter if you write long posts or short stories, you must publish something every day for at least three months. I know that it is not too easy, but this will contribute to your success.

You Think That You Know Everything

Knowing it all is a burden.

Nobody is perfect, not even the top Medium writers who earn thousands of dollars a month. There is always room for improvement and if you say that you don’t need someone’s advice and guidance to succeed, you are totally wrong. This type of attitude will lead you nowhere because readers on this site want great stuff and will not follow someone who is proud or arrogant. I also learn new things every day. I read a lot and don’t write until I have consumed sufficient information.

Your Stories Don’t Have Appropriate Tags

Using the right kinds of tags in an article is as important as avoiding plagiarism and grammatical errors.

Tags are what will make your story visible to a large number of people. Medium curators may choose your work for further distribution based on the tags you have had used. For example, if you are giving tips on writing quality content, the tags to be used are “writing,” “writing tips,” “social media,” and “creativity.” If you use another set of irrelevant tags, you may never get enough views. This directly means you cannot make a lot of money. I suggest you prepare a list of tags to be used in your stories and don’t go with irrelevant options.
