This is Where My Hum is Holy
A poem on being true to me
My deepest dreams are rich but less about fame, fashion and fortune.
My jeans are worn and my circle of love is small.
Less is more. This is where my hum is holy.
I used to think, if I stood in a circle with a hundred thousand wings, would you then notice me?
If I wore the latest fashion, highlighted my skin bronze, and curled my eyelashes would you then notice me?
If I were elite and poised comfortable with the spotlight would you then notice me?
Now I know the answers. You are so easily deceived to the degree of not noticing how I once adored your authenticity.
Yet, your hypocrisy confused me. So, I pulled away once again, to remind me… If I must change who I am to get you to see me then I am not being true to me.
