This Is What Happens When a Writer Inspires You
Moved from Autopilot to mindfulness
I am not sure whether you feel the same way as I do when you hit the “Medium Back Stories” Tab, and read your published stories.
You might ask
How do I feel?
Boring and uninspired
Why?
Because I am on Autopilot mode for creating new content and publishing instead of repurposing.
OK, what has changed today?
I want to mindfully do two things differently:
- Become aware of my thoughts and feelings associated with not wanting to create new content and try something new.
- Write a “Roundup” story learned from Linda Locke through her story titled “ How to Write a Roundup Story Using Your Medium Back List”
Linda Locke, the following quote from your article
Once you’ve posted lots of stories on Medium, it’s hard for your readers to find all the hidden gems you wrote in the past.
changed my self-talk from “boring, uninspired, and repurposing” to “Let’s pick two Gem stories, create a new Jewelry, and share it”.
Wow! As soon as I became mindful and wrote my intention, magic is happening! I am now more inspired to open my Back List of 186 Published stories and try a Roundup Story! By the way, this article is also driven by one of the commitments I made in the following article. Please check it out:
How did I come up with today’s Roundup story?
After opening the Medium Back List stories ( I have used the word Back Office also in some of my articles), I searched for the term “Lalitha+Commitment”. A list of my Published stories and my responses to other writers’ stories that have the word “commitment” popped up.
I became curious to learn how the word “Commitment” has helped me evolve as a writer in general, writing for different Publishers and creating new habits.
Voila!
In March 2022 I wrote a “commitment statement” in the following article to write 11 Short Form stories.
Out of several choices here are two of them:
I choose and commit to stop beating myself up when I don’t complete the number mentioned within the time I set for myself.
I choose and commit to consciously start noticing how I am building myself up instead of beating myself up.
I realize that being very specific about my thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and duration in my commitment statement has helped me keep up the commitment.
In April 2022, I wrote the following 11th Short Form article.
In this article, I have answered the following two questions in-depth
How did I do in terms of beating myself up?
How did I consciously build myself up by writing on topics like Self-Awareness, Exercising, Coaching, and Becoming a Better Version of Ourselves?
I invite you to read as you too may benefit if you find yourself unnecessarily beating yourself or afraid to commit. You may also follow my tips to build yourself up in case you do get beaten.

Thank you my lovely readers for helping me move out of my autopilot mode and mindfully create this Roundup article. Thank you, Linda Locke
