Abstract

The article titled "This Is the Sign You’ve Been Looking For" serves as a motivational piece, urging readers to take action on their desires or life changes they've been hesitant about. It acknowledges common fears such as expressing love, making a big move, changing jobs, or pursuing dreams, and it asserts that these are precisely the reasons to move forward. The text cites the "5 second rule" by Mel Robbins, which suggests that if one doesn't act on an impulse within five seconds, the brain will dismiss it, reinforcing the message to act swiftly on one's goals. The author emphasizes that the idea occupying the reader's mind is likely significant and worth pursuing, despite potential fears or worst-case scenarios. The article encourages visualization of a successful outcome and suggests that even failure is preferable to living with "what ifs" and regret. It concludes by reiterating that this message is the sign readers have been seeking and encourages them to embrace the journey, regardless of the outcome.

What’s currently on your mind? Are you worried of telling someone you love them? Worried about the move? Worried about quitting your job and starting fresh somewhere else? Worried about following your dream?

Whatever it is, know:

THIS IS YOUR SIGN TO DO IT.

Life is short, so might as well make from it what you really want to. It scares you? Even better! We improve when we step out of our comfort zones.

“The comfort zone is nothing else but a graveyard for your dreams & ideas.” -Anonymous

The more you think about doing something, the more faults you will find with it. The more you think about it, the more worst-case scenarios will appear in your head. The more you think about it, the less likely it is you will do it.

As Mel Robbins points out:

“If you have an instinct to act on a goal, you must physically move within 5 seconds or your brain will kill it.”

Yep, it’s the 5 second rule, and apparently if you don’t act on your idea in 5 seconds, your mind will convince you not to do it. Comfort zones aren’t called comfort zones for no reason.

I am 100% sure, when you read the title, you had a specific idea in your head, right? Which means that the thing you want to do is already occupying your mind (and not without a reason).

So… act on it. Turn it in to reality. Even if you fail, even if you feel bad for awhile, even if it turns out to be a complete disaster (which it won’t)— it’s still better to try and fail, than live with ‘what ifs’ and regret. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy (unfortunately), but taking the first step is the hardest part.

Do me a favour and just think for a minute about how amazing it could turn out to be. Visualise your life after doing this small action you’re thinking of doing, feel the happiness, feel the warmth inside. Wouldn’t such a life be incredible? What’s stopping you from achieving it?

This is the sign you’ve been looking for — take it, act on it, embrace whatever happens, be grateful for the experience. In the end, living a full life is all that matters.
