In 2023, the title of South Korea’s most popular instant noodles went to Shin Ramyun, as revealed by recent data.

This product, offered by Nongshim in both package and cup noodle variants, racked up a staggering 383.6 billion won (US$287.8 million) in retail sales, according to statistics compiled by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp.

Other best-sellers trailing behind Shin Ramyun included Nongshim’s Chapagetti, garnering 213.1 billion won in sales, and Jin Ramen with 209.2 billion won.

Buldak Ramen, famously known for its hot chicken flavor, also held its own with 147.2 billion won.

For snacks, Nongshim’s Saeukkang reigned supreme, boasting annual sales of 135.9 billion won.

Orion’s Pocachip and Pringles rounded out the top three with 116.4 billion won and 98.5 billion won respectively.

The biscuit category saw Haitai’s Homerun Ball topping the charts with 86.5 billion won in sales, beating out competitors like Ace crackers, Oreo cookies, and Margaret cookies.

When it comes to chocolates, Lotte Confectionery’s Pepero was the crowd favorite, with 118.5 billion won in sales.

World Cone also emerged as the preferred ice cream, achieving 71 billion won in sales.

As for the beer market, Oriental Brewery’s Cass led the pack with an impressive 1.5 trillion won in annual sales, outpacing Terra and FiLite.

In the soju segment, HiteJinro’s Chamisul was the frontrunner with 1.1 trillion won in annual sales, followed by Chum Churum and Jinro.
