“The first and best victory is to conquer self.” ~ PLATO

Have you ever felt like you are empty-handed when you’re going through a war in life? I mean, the battle when you’re dealing with difficulties in life. I am pretty sure that every movie you have watched when there’s fighting and killing has at least a sword, a gun, or sparring skills.

The sword represents your courage, and this is how you take the sword:

Embrace your fear.

Admit to yourself that sometimes you fear getting out from the box, your comfort zone. It is okay to admit that you are weak and you cannot be the strongest one. It is okay to feel defeated because, in life, we don’t always win. There are times when we lose in the game, and that is how we learn.

Embrace your fear of imperfections. There are times when I didn’t want to start a project because I fear making mistakes, and thinking about people will judge me for making these mistakes. The truth is that we will always face criticism and make mistakes. Not everyone will like us, and that is OK! Therefore, face your fear of imperfections and getting out of the box. Take your sword and fight for the things that matter the most in your life, and embrace your fear.

Choose the right thing.

We have to make decisions every day in the life, whether we are going to school or not, if we are going to work or not, and whether this day will be our day. Whatever decisions you have to make, big or small, always choose the right thing. Take courage to always be on the right side. Always determine that will benefit you.

Every time I wake up in the morning, I have a decision to make. I’d ask myself, “Do I sleep again to get little extra sleep, or just count 1 to 5 and get up to have extra time to do some work?” I did choose to sleep to get extra sleep, but it didn’t do me well in my day. Sometimes, I slept in for school and work, and that screwed me up. I took the courage to count from 1 to 5 then get up. It’s self-discipline I needed to build.

Take a step back

Have you heard a friend telling you “take it easy” when they noticed you’re all over the place? I’ve heard it many times at work and school. I’m all over the place without a pause or break, and sometimes I forgot to slow down and step back to reflect on things that matter. I didn’t take time to reflect on life and fix my ground.

I know that we won’t always be courageous in everything we do. We won’t be all positive and bright in our days. We don’t always win in life, and that is OK. When you take your sword, take a moment to step back and think about how you will fight. Therefore, take a step back, reflect and take it easy, my friend!

Final thoughts:

Taking the sword when you are battling in life can be a daunting task, and sometimes you just wanted to feel defeated. That is okay, sometimes you lose in life, and you feel discouraged. But when you take your sword, you can go even further. Don’t hesitate to do something right. Take your sword, for it is yours to
