This Is How Much Medium Paid Me In 2021

The Question I Get Asked The Most

When I started Medium in April of 2020, I was very excited to write on the platform and to earn money. 2020 didn’t go as planned. I didn’t meet any of my expectations. 2021 started the same. However, I decided to change that, and 2021 has proved to be a huge success for me. So, let me answer the question. How much did Medium pay me in 2021?

Off to a bad note

I didn’t start 2021 on a good note. I only published two articles and earned $12.16. This is better than the $0.02 that I had first made in April of 2020. I realized that I was only earning by my effort. If I had put more effort, I would have earned more money, too.

Authors Earnings

For the next 8 months, I didn’t continue to write much on Medium. I write 0 articles in February, 1 in March, 1 in April, 0 in May, 3 on June, 4 in July, and 6 in August. Here is the screenshot of these 7 months’ earnings.

The more articles I wrote, the more I had earned that month. It was clear. I had to write more stories to earn more.

A 180 Degree

Then in September of 2021, I had published 5 articles. Granted, I was focused on my YouTube channel at the time since it was the release of the iPhone and I had many videos to be published. However, I earned $19.91.

Authors Earnings

This was my highest earnings ever on Medium! I was started to gain hope and I put it to my mind. I was going to write more stories to earn more.

That didn’t work out either in October. I was so focused on the YouTube channel due to the tech product releases. I was already breaking records on my channel too with all-time highs in views, watch time, subscribers, and especially revenue. I had also passed my 2021 goal of 10,000 subscribers. Because of this, I only published 4 articles. The earnings, however, were higher than September and again, my highest earnings yet. I earned $31.62 for October!!

Authors Earnings

Once November came, I was able to take a break with the number of videos I was uploading on YouTube. This gave me the chance to write more stories on Medium! In total, I was able to write 13 articles in November! This was the most I had ever written in one month! Because of the more articles I had written, my earnings had increased yet again and it was my highest earnings on the platform!

This was amazing!! I proved to myself that the more I write, the more my earnings would grow. By this time, I had come to enjoy writing about what I love most; tech!

Then came the month of December. I had a goal to publish at least one story every weekday of the month. There were a couple of times I was able to publish on the weekend, too. I accomplished my goal! In December, I published a total of 30 articles!! That is one article every single day!! In the end, it paid off!! I earned a total of $317.95 and one referred member of $2.27. This brings the monthly overall total to $320.22!!

Authors Earnings

I quadrupled my earnings from November and made a 3 figure earning! It is said that only 6% of writers earn over $100 a month on Medium and it looks like that I was a part of that 6% this month!!

The Total Earnings

I might have started 2021 on a pretty rough note, but I ended off the year with a bang!! My total earnings on Medium in 2021 was $505.59!!!

This is an astonishing feat if you ask me. $505 may not seem like a lot, but for writing stories/articles, I was very surprised! I realized that the more articles I write, the more I will earn.

For those of you looking to write on Medium and earn some money, now is the time! 2022 can be your year! I proved to myself that it is quite possible to earn money and that I will make Medium a profitable source of side income for me!! I can’t wait for what this year holds!
