This Is How A Writer Is Gaslighting Readers To Gain Attention
I am shocked to see how some people can cross their limits to gain attention…
Some days ago, I wrote a crime story on Hannah Potts who faked her kidnapping and blamed a man of color. This incident took place in July 2020 and has been covered by hundreds of websites and blogs.
Another writer on this platform has claimed that I have copied their story. The worst part is that they have published a story on their profile calling me a plagiarist. Here are the screenshots of their story.
A Clear Case Of Gaslighting
In my opinion, it is nothing more than a case of gaslighting. The other writer is probably trying to gain quick attention. They are doing everything to manipulate readers and to gain sympathy, but such acts will lead them nowhere.
- First of all, I didn’t even read their story. This article was drafted for weeks, but I could not publish it due to my busy schedule.
- Secondly, the ways we have presented our stories are different.
- Thirdly, my story contains a lot more information and photos than their content.
- Fourthly, I regularly publish crime stories and my facts are mostly accurate. This is not the only crime incident I have talked about.
- Fifthly, my story is fully cited.
- Sixthly, hundreds of media outlets have published this story because it is one of the most famous cases in the history of the United States. Why don’t you go and blame all of them too? Just because your story was published weeks ago doesn’t mean you are free to blame anyone.
- The most important thing is I publish multiple stories in a day. I don’t have any way to know whether a particular topic has been covered by another writer or not.
- To that writer, my only question is why didn’t you bother to reply to the following comment if your claims were valid. You chose to ignore their comment. This proves that you have made baseless claims.
Final Thoughts
I have reported their story because it is a clear case of harassment. I have also submitted a ticket to the support. Hopefully, I will get a reply in a couple of days.
I don’t think such acts should be allowed on this site. We are here to make our own identities and to earn some money. What I feel is that we should spend our time creating stories and gaining followers rather than causing problems for others or blaming them.
