You can enrich your life by hexagonal imagination
This holistic exercise will help you set up your dreams and aspirations for next year
Tackle 6 domains in your life: Relationships, career, money, learning, wellbeing, and creativity
We, humans, are a rather complex species.
The quality of our lives depends on a multitude of factors in different domains, including relationships and family, work, creativity, well-being and leisure activities, and learning activities.
We can organize these domains into a hexagonal structure, very similar to the Vessel in New York (below).
In this article, I introduce a hexagonal framework to organize your dreams, goals, and imaginations in multiple domains of your life.
When we are planning for the future, it helps tremendously if we can think about all these domains. This means formulating goals and aspirations in multiple domains of our lives.
Your aspirations and dreams in each domain are crucial, as they will determine the quality of the paths you will take in each domain.
That is why I recommend you to use visualization and dream about fresh possibilities for each domain. You can doodle, draw, write, or brainstorm about these.
You can effectively coach yourself and improve the quality of your life through goal-setting and visualization in each domain.
You might think of each life domain as a journey with its own challenges, opportunities, adventures, and milestones.
You can also look analytically at each domain and evaluate your situation; which will provide you with new insights for going forward.
Exercise: Set Your Goals and Aspirations in Six Life Domains
In this article, I will provide you with a very quick and practical exercise that will help you set holistic goals for yourself.
Please look at the doodle poster below.
For each domain, I want you to create a vision for making it better next year.
How can you make progress in each domain?
What are some of your goals, wishes, and projects you want to tackle?
What could be some of your goals, aspirations, and visions in each domain?
What are some of the things that you wish to see happening in these domains?
What could be some small action points to start going forward?
Please feel free to use visualization and dream about fresh possibilities for each domain. As you proceed, please try to capture your ideas and stream of consciousness.
You might do this through doodling, drawing, writing, brainstorming, or creating concept maps.
What matters is you will try to inspire yourself towards positive action.
Remember: Visualization, drawing, or doodling are powerful tools you can use to develop new insights and to formulate your goals.
You can use extra sheets of paper as necessary.
Try to spend 3–5 minutes for each category (which means you can finish the whole exercise in about 20–30 minutes).
Are you ready?

As you see, this holistic exercise covers a wide range of significant areas in your life, including career, family/relationships, money, learning, creativity, and leisure/health/travel.
Create a small action point in each domain that you can easily implement. This will help you create momentum and positive movement.
Remember (1): Failure is not your enemy. Procrastination is your enemy. Therefore, you need to implement and take action, however small this action is.
Remember (2): Imagination is the key of all positive changes in your life. It all starts within your imagination. You can achieve fascinating things in your life if you change and take control of your internal conversations, mental models, emotions, habits, and actions in each domain of your life.
I hope that you have benefited from this exercise.
Sincerely;
Fahri
