Things You Shouldn’t Do, But Learn For Success
A list of all the things you do wrongly on your way to success

It is okay to do all you can do for success, to be as persistent as Steve Jobs and as ambitious as the late Kobe Bryant. But if you are not careful, you might end up doing the right thing in the wrong way.
I am not a preacher or a motivator, but too much ambition can sometimes lead you astray, too much persistence can sometimes obscure your true motivation, and too much intelligence can sometimes misrepresent you.
To be well prepared and aim sharply at success, here are a few things you shouldn’t do but learn to do for success.
Backstabbing/Recognize Opportunity
Like President Putin, if your idea of success is too harsh. You wouldn’t mind trampling on others or going through the wrong methods to achieve your goals.
You might get so lost in the rage that you’ll end up backstabbing someone to get what you want.
- You don’t have to disregard the work of the other writers to earn more.
- You don’t have to say any ill words about other people’s efforts during a competition to be at the top.
Although some other people would do that to you if you don’t learn to do it the right way, that is to recognize opportunities.
When aiming at a goal, try as much as possible to be mind-sharpened and expectant of any opportunity. That way, you will be well prepared and be capable of putting all your efforts right without backstabbing others to win.
Manipulation/Bid-Well
Meanwhile, every business person must have the ability to manipulate. So they say, but it is not all necessary.
You don’t have to manipulate someone into liking your service when they are engrossed in another. You don’t have to write clickbait articles to lure readers who are already die-hard fans of other writers.
When you ask certain successful people in some fields, they might make you believe that manipulation is a way to go when aiming for success. But instead, what they mean is that you need to learn to bid well.
- Learn how to distinguish the benefits and features of your product or service for your client.
- Learn to sell yourself well and with confidence.
- Learn to portray honest compassion while bidding.
- Learn to condone the best interest of your client at heart.
Instead of prioritizing the ability to forcefully manipulate your clients or a group of people to help you succeed, why not utterly learn how to sell yourself properly, such that your success will be based on real-time likeness and personal achievements.
Trampling on others/Prioritize yourself first
Half of today’s successes are achieved with the idea of trampling on others to advance. Obviously, in every race, there has to be a winner.
But there are also situations where the winner wears the crown on another person who ultimately deserves it.
That was the case of Miss Universe Ariadna Gutiérrez, who was accidentally announced as the winner by Steve Harvey instead of Pia Wurtzbach. The latter lets the mistaken winner have the crown for a few moments before taking it.
It shows that you shouldn’t trample on others for success, and even if the chance presents itself for you to overshadow others and make them feel irrelevant just for you to be successful, you don’t have to take it.
Why not learn to prioritize yourself first while heading for success in a healthy way that will not see you trample on others? If it’s yours, and you have done all you can to let it happen, it will certainly be yours.
Excessive talking/Word-choice
To speak when spoken to is one of the attitudes of the most successful people.
It is okay to want to impress people on your way to success when presented with the opportunity. But don’t overuse it.
You should learn to choose your words well because guess what?
If you don’t speak out much, you will be seen as an easily compelled person. If you spill too much, you might be held responsible for being too lousy, and you might end up giving away too much information to your competitors.
Hence, learn to be perfectly impressive by choosing the right words and knowing when to talk and whom to say them to.
Sentimental Attitude/Balanced Attitude
Anyone on their way to success will want to please everyone they come across.
So I won’t blame you when you want to spread love and positivity to anyone you encounter. Meanwhile, it is because you want success.
You would want to be the best person for the job.
You would want to come out as the one with the greatest sympathy.
Although it works just fine, instead of being overly sentimental and giving all reactions an equal amount of biased sentiment, why not be balanced in your attitude.
- When in an unpleasant situation, speak up.
- When presented with the opportunity to judge a scenario, do it right.
- When asked questions that reveal your attitude, be true and unbiased.
It could be just the right amount of seasoning to give you that pleasant aroma of success.
