Things You Should Say No to if You Want a Fulfilling 2022

There’s freedom in saying NO.

We’ve been trained to want more in life. We buy the latest mobile phone, cars, trendy houses and outfits hoping they’ll make us feel better about ourselves and our lives.

And they do. But only for a while. Eventually, the excitement fizzles out, and we revert to our normal state.

The older you get and look back at your past, you realize that the possessions you thought you needed to have no longer impress you. They aren’t so important now.

The key to having a life that makes you smile, happy, and fulfilled is learning to say NO to the following:

What Feels Normal.

Traditional education is normal, but it doesn’t work anymore. They told us a good education would lead us to a good job, and we’d be financially free, but that’s not the reality, is it? An impressive cv doesn’t guarantee a job, much less a desirable one.

Meanwhile, kids at TikTok are making big bucks just by tapping into their creativity.

It’s so easy to say yes to the same things. Yes, to the same job, friends, and lifestyle. But a satisfying life isn’t found in what feels good and normal.

The wheels of life are ever spinning. This is why, if you only stick to what you were taught, what feels normal, you’ll find yourself misplaced and unable to fit.

“Normal” feels good because it’s easy. But normal will keep you in an illusion of safety as the rest of the world cruises past you.

Dare to do hard things because accomplishing hard things brings you life satisfaction, harnesses your discipline, and motivates you to aim higher. You don’t know what you’re capable of unless you step out and try.

One-Sided Relationships.

I’m willing to bet that everyone and their dog has had a friend who left a bitter taste in their mouth. One-sided friendships leave us feeling empty rather than edified. We pour too much of ourselves into people who aren’t as invested in us.

At times we forge friendships to fill a void. Because we’re not willing to sit with ourselves long enough to know ourselves, we end up allowing people who don’t align with us or where we’re headed in life.

Every time you run away from yourself by hiding behind someone else, you end up disappointed. To be truly satisfied, it’s not enough to seek friends who are into us as we are into them; it’s also essential to make peace with ourselves.

Giving Your Mistakes Too Much Power.

Growth and mistakes are joined in the hip. The problem is that, at times, we give our mistakes too much power. We beat ourselves too much and give them way too much influence over the decisions we make in the future. If we’re not careful, we lose the determination we had started with and settle back into our old lives.

But to upgrade your life, be the kind of person who gets up, shakes it off as fast as possible, and keeps it moving.

I’m all for taking stock of our mistakes, but don’t allow it to keep you in limbo.

The next time you make a mistake, remind yourself that you did what you did with the knowledge you had at the time. Then move on. Crying over spilled milk isn’t going to get anyone a different outcome.

The Person You Wish You Were.

My pal lost his business when Covid hit, and for several months, he went in a downward spiral, but when we caught up last week, he was a totally different person. He’s no longer licking his wounds. He has relocated to a new area and tapped on his skills to earn and build a brand new life for himself.

We don’t always turn out to be what we thought we would be. Dreams and ambitions have a way of going stale. Yet the truly satisfied people take whatever is left of their lives and make something special with it. They are the ones who win in life.

You don’t get to choose the cards life deals you with, but you get to decide what to do with them. That’s on you. It’ll always be.

Dashed hopes. Broken dreams. Shattered ambitions. These things control so many people it’s impossible to create a life they’re proud of.

Learn to say no to the person you wish you were because you can never control that, and say yes to the person you are now and embrace the life you have presently. Then go out and make magic with that version.

A Body That Keeps You Trapped.

For years, I was controlled by my body. I couldn’t say no to cravings and didn’t know I could control and push my body to do what I wanted and not what it felt like doing.

I know I’m not the only one. So many people are slaves of their bodies. They are trapped beneath fat, weak bodies and can’t show up as their best selves.

The problem with being fat and unhealthy is that it not only affects you mentally and psychologically but it also lowers your quality of life. Unless you have a medical condition, you can change this.

Imagine how good it would feel to have a body you can pick up and go without pain and struggle. A body that doesn’t make you hate yourself. A body that doesn’t make you feel less than. A body that helps you create the life you know you’re meant for.

You aren’t your body. You’re the spirit living in it. So learn to say no to its cravings and urges. Say No to that chocolate cake. No to sitting and doing nothing all every day. Force it to do what you want because you’re the boss of it.

A Mindset That Keeps You Small.

Navy recruits are carefully selected. Usually, they are strong and fit young men who possess relatively the same kind of willpower and physical strength.

The training involves Hell Week. Here, they’re pushed to their physical limits through excruciatingly tough challenges. When it gets too tough, recruits ring the bell as a sign of surrender. And that becomes that. They pack up and go home.

Here’s the twist; these guys are usually of similar strength and fitness, but it’s their mentality that separates those who bathe in the fire and those who abandon the dream.

It’s true for life too. While willpower and discipline certainly account for something, the biggest weapon for your success is your mindset.

You can only go as far as you think you can. So learn to say no to a mindset that keeps you small. Dare to enlarge your boundary lines.

Outfits That Don’t Make You Feel Sexy.

How many times have you worn an outfit that makes you feel like you own the world? How many times have you worn one that makes you feel and look unappealing?

What you wear influences how you feel, show up, and how others perceive you.

Well-dressed guys make us feel like they know what they’re talking about. We associate them with success. This explains why they get more customers, more sales, and business opportunities.

People open up to you when they are attracted to you, making it easier to elevate and move your life forward. You don’t have to alter your body, although people do this, and it’s totally okay too.

But you do have to say no to unsexy and unflattering clothes and get outfits that make you feel and look the part.

The Urge To Be Nice.

Do you know the biggest prison of all?

It’s the urge to please people. It’s what keeps us trapped and stifled, gasping for breath because we lose the freedom to be ourselves.

The problem with pleasing everyone is that it takes joy away from the one person who matters most; yourself. You have to cultivate acceptance in the discomfort of knowing that what you say won’t always resonate with others. Building a character and backbone comes down to finding your principles and standing by them even if they’re unpopular.

When it comes to having a happy and fulfilling life, what makes an impact is knowing who we are and what we need to continue becoming the best versions of ourselves. But all that starts with learning to say NO to the above.
