The dog days of summer are upon us, and that means the end is near! Check out some of South Jersey’s best locations if you want to squeeze in a little more fun before the season ends.

What could be better than a trip to the beach or dining at a new restaurant?

Wildwood Beach and Boardwalk

The Wildwoods, also known as Wildwood, New Jersey, is a beautiful picturesque beach town on the Jersey Shore. Known for having one of the best beaches in New Jersey, expect to have fun with your friends and family.

When entering the charming community, you are greeted with a breathtaking view of the beach creek to the left and right. Pockets of adorable beach homes and casual outdoor restaurants make up the skyline. Locals get around on bikes or by going on a leisure walk.

For family-friendly entertainment, spend the day on the white sandy beaches of North Wildwood or take a walk on the boardwalk.

Along North WIldwood’s boardwalk is a range of restaurants and activities that stretch for more than two miles. Have lunch or dinner with a view of the ocean at Seafood Pier Restaurant– North Wildwood’s only family-friendly beach bar and grill with a private pool.

Thrill seekers, young and old, come to the boardwalk to surf on the Flow Rider at Splash Zone Water Park and cool off at the two waterparks and four piers at Morey’s Piers & Waterparks.

One thing to note about the restrooms all along the boardwalk — I went to four different ones, and they all had the same sign. No changing or bathing in the bathrooms. If you get caught, you risk a $250 fine!

Atlantic City

Atlantic City has taken a hit over the years with the closing of many businesses but remains resilient as a must-see for any summer visitor to South Jersey.

The world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk was built in 1870 and is known for its attractions, retail shopping, casinos, and high-end dining. The beaches are beautiful, and there’s plenty of space to spread out with your family and soak up the sun.

New business and annual beach events like BRT Weekend, a Caribbean Music Festival, bring people to Atlantic City every summer.

There’s more to do in Atlantic City than just gamble and party.

Bahama Breeze Restaurant

You won’t have to catch a flight before the summer ends to enjoy the great flavors of the Caribbean because Bahama Breeze Restaurant takes you there. Located in Cherry Hill Mall, the Caribbean restaurant and grill is a favorite among locals and visitors. And with good reason — the food and drinks are delicious!

Bahama Breeze Restaurant offers an innovative lunch, dinner, and Happy Hour menu using fresh, high-quality ingredients. My favorite items off the menu were the chicken tostones, coconut shrimp, jerk wings, rasta pasta, and their classic mojito.

And what’s even better? Bahama Breeze Restaurant offers live music every Wednesday and Thursday night. So make sure you put it on your list of things to do before summer ends!

The Waterfront

With Labor Day weekend right around the corner, here are a few more ideas of things you can do before summer ends:

The Camden County Waterfront has one of the best views of the Ben Franklin Bridge and the city of Philadelphia. You can find outdoor activities that will satisfy anyone’s interests — beginning with the summer concert series in Wiggins Park, the Adventure Aquarium, and visiting the Battleship of New Jersey.
