Things That Make Me Smile

Although life can be rough, there are many things that make me smile. This poem is a list of the things that make every day worthwhile.

Waking up feeling refreshed and excited to begin my day, Watching my nieces play and hearing the amusing things they say, Engaging in conversations with strangers, family, and friends, Laughing and having so much fun that I don’t want the day to end, Receiving guidance as I walk down God’s path for me to follow; Knowing He loves me during times of stress, confusion, and sorrow. Witnessing kindness from a person who opens a door for me, Hearing respectful words like sorry, excuse me, thank you, and please, Coming up with poems like this one at two o’clock in the morning, Getting plenty of sleep and having dreams that are far from boring.

These are all the things that remind me how wonderful life can be. On bad days, I will read this poem; it will help me set my mind free.
