Summary

The author reflects on a longing for tranquility, simplicity, and the peace of the past, while acknowledging that these elements still exist in the present, albeit in a different form.

Abstract

In a world that seems increasingly chaotic, the author expresses a deep sense of nostalgia for the days when life was quieter and more serene. They miss the stillness and quiet that allowed for reflection and rest, lamenting the loss of these qualities in their current life. The author also reminisces about the time before constant connectivity, when not owning an iPhone was the norm, and the carefree nature of youth. Amidst this longing, there is a recognition that the essence of what they miss—nature's constancy, the beauty of change, and the tranquility of the environment—is still accessible. The wind, the falling leaves, and the still river serve as reminders that peace and contemplation are not entirely lost.

Things I Miss

It’s quiet out there

I miss stillness.

I miss quiet.

I miss not having an iPhone.

I miss my married friends.

I miss not being anxious.

I miss my youthfulness.

I miss being carefree.

I miss contemplation.

I miss rest.

But…

The funny thing is.

Those things are still there.

They just look different.

The wind still blows.

The leaves still fall from the tree.

The river remains still.
