100 DAYS WRITING CHALLENGE

Things I Hate The Most

A different side of me — Episode 9

After getting up this morning and into the mood to write my today’s story, I thought of starting another mini series for my readers.

I asked myself what are the usual things to talk about? Without thinking twice, I came up with a typical list of topics. Food, travel, career, movies, restaurants, and so on. You can also try it. Pen down the things that you would like to talk about. Trust me, most of you will come up with many similar topics.

But being in the pilot’s seat right now, I thought of attempting things a little differently. I got an idea. How about sharing my thoughts on the things that I don’t like? I am not a deep thinker or poet. So, ultimately I will come down to the same track and start talking about the usual stuff. But, let me dedicate today’s episode to the opposite direction.

Here are the things I don’t like:

  1. To be super excited about birthdays and anniversaries. It is okay but I want to celebrate whenever there is a mood and opportunity.
  2. Being time-bound for doing the little things that we enjoy. I don’t want to wait for a specific time or occasion to do a certain thing, whether it be dressing up, eating out, and so on.
  3. Giving and receiving gifts in person, especially when traveling. I don’t mind the concept but I prefer things to be passed on discreetly.
  4. Why is it necessary to take something like chocolates or cakes when visiting someone? Can we not come out of it? I think such things keep us away from each other.
  5. I don’t like technology too much. I prefer writing by hand, wearing a watch, and reading a book or a newspaper in the traditional way. I have a constant debate on this with my son, who is a big tech freak.
  6. I am not crazy about art. I like things in a more classic way.

I hope you have not created a certain image of my personality. So please don’t judge me. This is something that I felt like sharing with my audience, so did it. If there are limits to expression, then what is the point in writing. I hope you don’t take it too seriously!

I hope you enjoyed today’s episode. See you tomorrow!
