Summary

Monica's car mirror incident led to the discovery of a leaking bathroom ceiling, which was fortuitously detected early due to the car issue, preventing more significant home damage.

Abstract

While preparing to leave, Monica adjusted her car's rearview mirror, which broke unexpectedly. This event seemed unfortunate at first, as it forced her and her husband to cancel their anticipated ski trip due to the need for repairs. However, the incident serendipitously led to the early discovery of a leaking bathroom ceiling the following day. If not for the car's mishap, they might have been away on their trip, allowing the leak to cause extensive damage to their home. The situation underscores the idea that seemingly negative events can have positive outcomes, as the car issue likely saved them from a more severe home disaster.

Things Happen for a Reason

I was about to drive off when I unconsciously adjusted the rearview mirror.

CLICK, SNAP” — the top of the mirror of my beloved 8-year-old car fell apart and dangled in my hands.

YIKES! Thank God you’re here!”, I told my husband as he held onto the mirror precariously.

Phone calls ensued. Luckily, we were covered. But we had to cancel our winter ski break. We were so looking forward to it…

The next day, I walked into my bathroom when — -

The freaking ceiling was leaking. Are you kidding me?

More calls ensued. This time to home insurance. Luckily it would cover the damage.

Phew.

Good thing the car fell apart. Otherwise, we would be gliding down the ski slopes while the bathroom was swimming in water.

Things do happen for a reason.
