They Told Me Every Writer Needs a Twitter Account.

It’s official.

There once was a medium writer

Who had lots of stories inside her

They spun ‘round in her head

As she lay on her bed

But at dawn they all took a powder.

I recently joined a publication, The Power of Poetry, and one of the criteria to be added as a writer was that I needed to have a Twitter account. But just for the record I have to say

I NEVER WANTED A TWITTER ACCOUNT.

So, I went over to the wall standing between me and Twitter and looked over. I had to decide if it was worth all the trouble.

I checked out augmented man, and Power of Poetry. I noticed some other folks from Medium. I noticed more #writers.

I thought to my sixty-year-old self, “Self, we have to figure this out.”

I clicked the sign-up button and followed the on-screen instructions and became,

Taa-Daa!

“T__W___VolcanoLady@TWatsonVolcano”

Crickets.

A drive around the neighborhood seemed like the next logical step. I clicked on #Explore.

OOooh! For me, trending, click on your interest, who to follow. The sight is overwhelming.

I click some interests ++++++.

I follow writers from Medium, some more writers, some other folks I recognize.

I go all kid in the candy store and start opening all the choices.

Notifications, Messages, Profile, …More. I play with all my Settings.

A red dot appears on the home icon. CLICK! Some people followed me, some are tweeting. My eyes are drawn to the big, now made pink by me, TWEET button.

I must Tweet!

I click the button and post a link to…

Key Message: I am now officially a Tweeter!

Or crazy. Whatever. We’ll see what happens.
