Summary

The text reflects on the paradox of originality in creative expression, acknowledging that while every idea is influenced by others, the personal emotional investment in the act of creation makes it unique and impactful.

Abstract

The author of the text contemplates the nature of originality in writing, recognizing that despite the ego's desire to claim ownership of words and ideas, all expressions are built upon the foundations laid by others. The pursuit of crafting a perfect symphony of words or a novel piece of writing is juxtaposed with the realization that every idea is sparked by external influences. Words, as tools for communication, were created to bridge the gap between minds, allowing us to share our inner experiences. However, when an individual truly feels and personalizes the words they use, they recreate and renew their meaning. The ultimate yearning is to write in a way that evokes emotions in others, thereby sharing in the collective experience of creation and feeling.

These Words Are Not Mine

these words are not mine.

my ego tells me they are, and I desire them to be.

to write the perfect symphony of sounds, the perfect painting of letters.

to write what has never been written before.

but every idea I have is sparked by another’s.

every word I have ever uttered was created long ago, so we could reach out across the space between our minds and give each other a taste of what we both feel inside.

but in feeling the words that I utter,

I make it my own,

I feel it as mine, I feel it as true.

when we truly feel what we think we make it anew.

and I only ache to write so you can feel it too.
