These 5 Videos Changed My Career As a Data Scientist
Let me introduce you to 5 videos that have had a profound impact on my career. From 3Blue1Brown’s enlightening explanation of the maths behind neural networks, to StatQuest’s intuitive breakdown of the powerful XGBoost algorithm, these videos are sure to pique your interest. And if you’re looking for inspiration, check out Chamath Palihapitiya’s conversation with Lex Fridman, where he shares his incredible journey from poverty to billionaire status and even inventing the term “Data Scientist.”
But don’t stop there — explore the wide range of applications of AI in our society with “The age of AI” and delve into the beauty of deep learning with Bayesian principles. Join me on this exciting journey and let’s learn together.

AI can often be quite theoretical. This series made me realize that AI can have a wide range of applications and a strong impact on our society. It actually gave me the inspiration to launch AI Stories. I wanted to help people understand how AI could be applied in various industries and impact our world.
2. Neural Networks by 3Blue1Brown:
These four videos which help you understand the math behind neural networks. It is after watching this video 5 years ago that I started to get into Data Science and Machine Learning.
3. XGBoost by StatQuest:
XGBoost is probably one of the best performing algorithm on tabular data. This series of video clearly explain how this algorithm works intuitively and mathematically speaking.
4️. Chamath Palihapitiya and Lex Fridman:
This is probably the single best podcast episode I have ever listened to! Such an inspiring conversation between Lex and Chamath. This isn’t really about AI but Chamat’s story from being poor and beaten by his dad to becoming a billionaire is just so inspiring. And he actually invented the word Data Scientist while he was working at Meta! If you want to find out why, go and listen to this episode :)
5️. Deep learning with Bayesian principles:
This more theoretical video made me realise how beautiful AI and maths can actually be. Probably the best talk I have ever watched at an AI conference.
Note to myself: Go and rewatch this video soon!
And, there you go! Those were the top 5 videos that have significantly influenced my career in data science and artificial intelligence. I strongly advise seeing these if you haven’t done so already. Who knows, perhaps they’ll also motivate you. Any video above that you liked? Which other video impacted your Tech career? Please share in the comments.
