These 3 Books Made Me Over 5K in 90 days

We will dive into one of my favourite niches, activity books. I’ve been able to make a healthy 5 figure amount from just these books alone!
Activity books encompass a wide variety of activities, you can include coloring pages, mazes, sudoku, word searches, crosswords and much more. While you might think these are only for children, there’s a huge market for adult versions too.
Why I love To Create Activity Books:
- Versatility and Demand: Activity books cover a wide spectrum, from children’s coloring books and puzzle books to adult stress-relief coloring books and brain-training workbooks. The demand spans across age groups, making this niche evergreen.
- Easy Content Creation: Unlike traditional books, activity books don’t require you to be an expert writer or an authority on a subject. They’re mostly filled with interactive content such as puzzles, drawings, prompts, or coloring pages.
- Unique Content: The more activities you include in your book the more challenging it becomes for copycats to replicate. Most people give up on activity books as they can take a longer time to create but this just means there is less competition.
- Repeat Customers: Once people buy and enjoy your activity book, they’re likely to come back for more. This means potential for repeat customers, especially if you plan to release a series of books.
Just three of the books alone have made me over $5k during a 90 day period.

If your interested in creating your won activity book, I would start with research first.
Research
When creating activity books, I’ve noticed that too many publishers will spend time creating books without any audience in mind that don’t get noticed and lost in the sea of books on Amazon KDP.
You need to make sure that you target a specific audience when creating an activity book and include the right puzzles for them. The same activities that interest a toddler won’t be the same activities that excite a teen.
Let’s take a look at activity books for 4–8 years olds.

If we base our judgement just on these results by Self Publishing Titans, this keyword has over 30,000 results and it would be hard for us to compete with.
However, if I filter the results and take a look at the last 90 days then I notice that many new books are still selling under this keyword.
Too often, we can get sidetracked by the number of results instead of digging down deeper to find out what new sellers are doing differently in a market. There are always sub-sections of a niche you can delve down into.

This activity book was released on March 14th and it has a BSR of 10,624 with four, five-star review. This book is already heading in the right direction.
It has an attractive cover, suited towards it’s age range. You can see in the subtitle the activities such as mazes, dot to dot, color by number, word searches, matches and sudoku included that are suited towards the target audience.
I also notice a breakdown of the ages in the subtitle, 3–5 and 6–8 as these keywords are already highly searched for on Amazon and will help the book show up under these keywords. The benefits of the book are clearly explained ‘to improve children’s cognitive development, learning and relaxing.

Using the book scout tool on Book Bolt gives us further insight into some of the keywords this book is ranking for and the search volume. This is a huge reason why the backend keywords are so important as some of these words do not appear in the title or subtitle but this book is still found to be ranking for them.
This is why I spend the most time during the research process as you should be looking for high-demand keywords that will help your book rank better once it starts getting sales.
