Summary

The article discusses the authors' experience with a mouse infestation in their RV and their search for a humane solution to remove it.

Abstract

The authors, living in an RV, have encountered a mouse that has managed to get inside their vehicle. They acknowledge that such occurrences are common given their lifestyle and surroundings. The article references an external resource for dealing with mice and contrasts the author's preference for a humane approach with their partner's inclination towards a more violent method. The presence of the mouse is attributed to the RV's proximity to fields and grassy areas, which are common at truck stops and campgrounds. The authors have heard the mouse but only recently sighted it, leading them to believe it may have entered the RV during a recent stop. They emphasize the need to remove the mouse in a way that avoids cruelty, citing past experiences with rodent damage. The authors also promote an AI service as a cost-effective alternative to ChatGPT Plus.

There’s a Mouse in Our RV

No, not Mickey or an animated one

We need to get rid of it and there are many ways to do it

This is pretty straightforward. We live in an RV. Things like this are bound to happen. I found this article to figure out ways to get rid of it. Mike would rather just smash it into smithereens the next time he sees it. I think that’s a pretty brutal and unnecessarily bloody approach to it all.

We haven’t been able to keep the interior of our RV the cleanest at this point between being between truck stops and not being near our old storage in Erie, Pennsylvania for a while, it has been hard to get rid of excess trash in a timely manner. It was only a matter of time before one got in here.

Grass and campers aren’t exactly a great combination

I also wouldn’t be surprised if there are other mice still in here in other places or have been previously. They can crawl into these camper RVs through the tiniest of crevices. Recently, I suspected that there might be one in here before he saw it. Last night, I heard some tiny squeaking and some gnawing, and little feet running around. The lights were off, I was asleep and I didn’t want to wake up in a panic. I just stayed still and didn’t want to alarm Mike while he was asleep.

We have been parking near a lot of fields and grass all year long. There was always a field at the truck stops and the campground was just one giant field. It is fairly easy for all sorts of animals to sneak into our RV through many openings. This mouse could be from anywhere along our trail from the campground to any of the assortment of truck stops we’ve stayed at.

We found the mouse and we need to get rid of it once and for all

Given we only heard it recently and only saw it today for the first time, we suspect we picked it up this week. It was likely when we were at this very truck stop we’re back at tonight almost a week ago. There is tall grass behind us and a large field going up a hill to the highway. It could’ve come from any part of that.

We are on concrete right now and there are always a ton of trucks near us and the other trucks are also possible targets for the mice. We are just lower to the ground and with more holes here and there. It would be much easier for one to get in here.

The bottom line is, however, we get rid of the mouse, we’ve got to. It’s not going to be Mike’s way, likely. I don’t want to be cruel to animals even if it is a lowly rodent. We just can’t have a mouse crawling around in here defecating, peeing, and making babies in here and eating through all of our food.

Before we had to give up our old truck, there was a dead mouse in that place. It had eaten through a ton of food and wrecked a few tiny wires. I would’ve been scared of this situation at one point but now I’m calm and just trying to come up with a humane situation to solve it.
