Thank you for finding us On our bench, me in the sun Thank you for knowing you must Stop to see us, when we were young.

And you saw. My earnest excitement Outlined quietly in stone. The tilt of head The little lift of leg Little me so happy, to be so well known.

You saw you too, your flowing hair Unkempt beneath your jaunty cap Eagerly leaning, showing your care Little chest turned, admitting no gap

Between us as we sit On our bench together. Lost in our moment Whatever the weather.

And so we are. Thank you for showing No fair-weather friends, it’s been forecast, We’ll sit on our bench while it’s snowing Knowing that story we’re reading will last.
