There Was No Job For Me In Canada

If you want to move abroad please consider the option of permanent residency because it has more apparent rules than finding a job sitting here in India.

On 12th August 2019, I received a call from Oasis Resource Management. The person I was speaking to introduced himself as Vipin. He told me that my candidature had a high chance of getting a job in Canada.

What was next?

I fell for his trap.

I was given a Technical Assessment Test and my score was evaluated by one of the case managers assigned to me. Her name was Priyanka Sharma. She sent me an email on 14th August 2019 spilling the beans on my Evaluation Report. Along with the score she shared the details as mentioned below:

TOTAL FEES: Rs. 60,000/- (plus 18% service tax) = Rs. 70800/- Every Information regarding the process is mentioned in the SERVICE LEGAL AGREEMENT.

Processing time- 3–6 months. Interviews will be done through Telephonic & Video Conferencing.

Contract job-2–4 years.

Air tickets, Accommodation, Visa, Travel expenses paid by the company.

I paid the fees using my credit card and received an invoice on 16th August 2019.

I was assigned a new case manager named Rashmi from the Operations department to make me understand the process agreement. I started getting irritated by now.

It was a huge mistake from my end that I didn’t read their reviews on Google and Quora before making the payment. After the payment, I was completely trapped and clueless.

They asked for my documents ranging from employment letters, bank statements to transcripts of my certificates. I gave them all and they took another 45 days to get the documents verified from the Third Party Administrator. By now my patience knew no bounds.

My first call was arranged in November 2019 with an Indian Consultancy based out of Toronto. I was surprised when I spoke to an Indian over the phone taking my interview. At this juncture, I was sure I got myself fooled by this fake agency which had no huge connections with any major consultancies abroad.

My feedback came after 10 days that I did well but my profile was put on hold for reasons known to consultancy and the agent. They tried again for one more interview in Jan 2020 and by this time I was clear to ask for a refund.

After fighting hard with them for almost three months they finally cared about refunding 75% of my money and deducted 25% as a part of the process agreement. I asked them about the list of candidates whom they sent successfully to Canada in the past few years but they didn’t share any information with me.

It was a huge hoopla created by them to try for another country when I wasn’t able to crack luck in Canada and I was confident about abusing them with no fear of getting my money stuck anywhere.

I told them “If Canada didn’t work out, who told you I would invest more money to ruin my time and efforts again with useless agents like you?”. They didn’t get back to me and I saved myself some sanity to write a review on them someday which I am doing today.

Learnings

I would urge all young minds and even professionals who have been falling for the trap of getting a job abroad via an agent. They will sell you dreams of moving abroad but they wouldn’t get you a job. The success rate speaking of which they lure your money doesn’t exist in reality.

I borrowed money from my friend for this purpose. I will return the money to him but when I was borrowing I didn’t know this plan of finding a job via an agent wouldn’t work for me.

If you want to move abroad please consider the option of permanent residency because it has more apparent rules than finding a job sitting here in India. I know people get it in the USA but who knows what kind of hell they also go through while applying for a job from India.

And if you come across Oasis people tell them to keep their fake policies and agendas with themselves. You will save yourself hell a lot of trouble and thank me later.
