There Once Was a Pet Dog Named “Damnit”
A Humorous Limerick
There Once was a pet dog named “Damnit”
He came by the name as a habit
His owner was cross
A mean, crotchety boss
Who often said “Damnit, you’ve done it.”
This limerick was inspired by a true story. It was well known in our small rural community, that the town doctor had named his dog “Damnit” through default.
As a small puppy, Damnit got into a lot of trouble. He peed in the house. He chased rabbits. He dug up the yard.
The doctor was often swearing at the dog. “Damn it you’ve done it again.” When the doctor tried to give the puppy a proper name, the dog only responded to “Damnit.”
Hence, Damnit was forever named.
