Families can bring joy and happiness

Friends can come and go, but family members remain as your family no matter what happens. Families are usually the most important people in a person’s life, but that is not always the case. People may become estranged from their family after cutting all ties with previously close loved ones. All families are not close and caring. There are many people in the world who have not seen family members for years. Some never care to see them again.

Most people realize that their family members are important in their lives. They are the people who were with you throughout your whole life. They supported you in times of trials. They were there when you were ill. They stood by you when others didn’t. They were the ones you could count on if troubles came to you. Cousins may not see each other a lot, but they may feel a kinship with each other. It is a shame when family relationships end as they sometimes do.

It is sad when family members become enemies because of politics. Most families where politics is a contentious issue have the sense to keep politics out of their conversations. They find enough things on which they can agree that politics does not have to be a divisive issue. They choose not to let it become such. They know that families are important even when there are disagreements.

It is fairly well known that friends have lost friends and families have become torn apart since Donald Trump ran for office and won as President of the United States. He has been a divisive factor in some relationships which had previously been strong. Many people feel definitely FOR or AGAINST Trump. That has made for contention in families and friendships.

Although friends are not expected to stay around for a lifetime, many friendships last through thick and thin. People who were friends as small children may remain friends into adulthood. That is relatively rare as people move apart as life advances.

Families are people who should be around forever. They are people who are related by blood or by close relationships. It is not expected that they will ever become enemies, but it happens.

Hatred should not exist in families. It is unfortunate when hate and division are allowed to erode families. Life is hard, and not all families will stay close. That is a just a sad fact of life.

Congressman Adam Kinzinger, a Republican who voted for the impeachment of Trump, faced hate from his family. They told him that he had brought shame to the family name. Some cousins and other relatives told him that he was being disowned. How sad that people are so devoted to Trump that they would not even allow others to have a different opinion. It was not wise that they chose to make it such a public issue without simply discussing it within the family circle.

Families start out with closeness and love. That is not always easy to maintain. It is more pleasant when people agree with family members about such items as politics and people in elective office, but it is not likely that people will always agree. It is unfortunate when families let politics tear them apart and make them enemies.

There may be no excuse for families to become estranged because of opposing feelings about Trump, but it has happened and is still happening. Family relationships need to be nourished in order to continue to remain strong. It is necessary to work hard to keep love alive even within families.
