Writing Prompts- Tide
There is a Tide in the Affairs of Men and Women
When taken at the flood leads to a fortune
We see the tides in the ocean, We see the tides in the sea. We have high tides when the waters rise, Then fall back again to where it is meant to be. We see low tides when the waters fall, To rise back up once again, To be as high as a watery wall.
There is always a fleeting opportunity, For men and women to claim again, That one moment of luck and fortune, When you can be whoever you want to be. It does not come to us regularly, It comes seemingly out of the blue. A chance to become rich and famous, Like a bolt of lightning out of the blue.
Just as there are high tides, There are low tides too. It is now up to you, To study the tides of life, In order to draw all opportunities, Luck, chance, and good fortune, Giving you a richer and more prosperous tune. Every morning when you open your eyes, Look up at the golden skies, Knowing that you will get the next tide, While on the waves of fortune you ride.
Inspired by William Shakespeare- Julius Caesar
“There is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat;
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.”
- William Shakespeare
