A Thin Line Between Love And hate (Story From My Cat)

Everything was purrrfect; I was the king of the house and the yard (except when bigger cats came; then I would return to my kingdom inside).

My subjects would listen to me; whenever I wanted to go out, they opened the door for me.
When I said “Meow,” they would give me food, and when I came to them, they would cuddle me.
If they didn’t see me, I would climb to the window and give them THE LOOK. They would immediately run with apologetic faces and open a window or door.
I was enjoying my kingdom, until one day everything changed.
She arrived.

A big, crazy dog that stole my subjects’s attention
At first, she was small, and I just tried not to be in her way, but as the days passed, she became bigger and bigger.
I couldn’t enter through the main door anymore, but my subjects made another special window only for me so the crazy dog and I wouldn’t meet eye to eye.
My yard became a war zone because that crazy dog, whenever it saw me, tried to catch me.
So instead of running for my life each time, I decided to give up my yard to her. Even though I had been here for 3 years longer, I lost the battle to a dog that hadn’t been here for even a few weeks.
My subjects watched me lying and sleeping, but they didn’t know that what I was actually doing was thinking of a plan for how to get my subject’s attention and my kingdom back.
My subjects tried to force me to make peace with Azra, or whatever her name was, by putting me on one side of the door and her on the other.
Well, the peace lasted for a few seconds, and then Azra would become crazy again.
“Don’t be afraid,” they said.
“She only wants to play,” they said. Yeah, right. As if I didn’t know that the moment they would go I would become her meal.
Weeks passed, and I decided to start getting closer and closer to her.
You know what they say,
Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
I started to learn about her habits, likes and dislikes.
Little by little, I began to walk around the yard and lie in the bushes without her knowing.
One day, an unexpected happened.
I was chased by the crazy, big, fat cat. He thought the whole neighborhood was his kingdom just because he was the biggest and the scariest of us all.
I fought him a few times, but in the end, he always won the battle, so I decided to ignore him and just run whenever I saw him.
I was rushing to my yard when I saw Azra. One different thing was that she ignored me and started to bark and growl at my biggest enemy.
That crazy dog just protected me? Who would have known that would ever happen?
For the first time, I saw in that crazy newcomer some kind of potential ally.
That was the day when Azra and I, little by little, started to become partners in crime.
Are we still fighting?
Hell, yeah.
Do I love her?
Well, love is a hard word.
Do we collaborate when needed?
Yes.
After she arrived, my subjects were more loyal to her and ignored me.
But that didn’t last for long.
Now, I am again king in my kingdom.

The only thing that has changed is that now, when I need to go out or inside the house, Azra, my loyal ally, tells that to my subjects.

And sometimes, I do that for her as well.
Sometimes, she still deserves some beating and biting when she doesn’t allow me to sleep or scares my catch, but mostly, I reclaim the status of a king and she becomes just a court fool.

“Zen, what are you doing on my computer?”
Meeoow…
Don’t tell her that I was here.
