Themed Poetry Challenge — Month #2 Prompt #1
Earthly Poetry

It’s the second month of our themed poetry challenge! Yay! I’m ultra excited to share new, refreshing prompts with you, my lovely online family of talented writers!
Last month we took a journey through the vast cosmos and befriended planets, stars and even de the sun itself! This month I feel it’s only fair we shifted our attention towards our sacred home — Earth.
As much as the vast universe intrigues us, we must also stay grounded and cherish Gaia the best way we can. I think there are so many lessons to learn from this planet we call home, so much wisdom that can be found in our surroundings, if only we paid attention. So much of what happens in nature is a reflection of what’s happening within and viceversa!
That being said, here is the first prompt of the earthly poetry series of this month: Rituals and offerings to Gaia.
Here is my take on it:
If there’s anything My distant travels taught me Is to cherish the soil I walk on Because one day it might just decide To tremble underneath my feet And I’ll regret not paying homage To this divine sanctuary; But does Gaia believe me when I say That I don’t wish to unleash her rage? Especially as she doesn’t ask that much of me anyway Only rituals and offerings As well as some protection and respect And at the end of the day Isn’t that more than a fair trade?
You too can join this challenge! All you have to do is write a poem & tag our pub/this article in your post. You can even publish it in a different publication if you feel like it! There’s no right or wrong. There just is!
Happy writing!
