The Year to Dream Big: My 2024 Journey

2023 is gone, and I hope you have already prepared your New Year’s resolution, as it’s already 2024, and you need to be ready for it.

At the end of each year, I analyze my achievements and falls and try to figure out how to improve my life. And it’s not an easy task, I can say.

The hardest part is to be honest with yourself, especially with things that go wrong, or situations when you were wrong. It’s difficult, but it’s part of my yearly therapy.

I grab a notebook and a pen. I go to the cafe, order a cup of cappuccino, sit in the corner, and start from the beginning of the year.

Day after day… Week after week… Month after month… I write about all the memorable and meaningful things that happened that year.

After 1 hour of self-reflection, I end up with a 10-page analysis and many emotions. But it’s just the beginning.

The next session is going to take 2 more hours. I order another cappuccino. Take a sip. Open a new page and write “My Perfect 2024”.

I draw numbers from 1 to 25…

  1. -
  2. -

……..

25.

And start filling each line with the biggest goal I could possibly achieve in 2024. I allow myself to dream 10, 100, 1000 times big.

It’s easy to put the first 10, but it’s becoming harder and harder, and eventually, I have the whole list. I’m smiling. All goals are on that list.

Now, I need to filter them. It’s the most challenging part. I strike the least important out. One by one. Line after line.

I leave my top 5. That’s what I need for 2024. That’s my magic number.

30 minutes is gone. I proceed to the next phase.

New page. Empty. I write, “1. Reach 50k followers on Medium”. I imagine myself at the end of 2024, staring at the screen of my medium’s profile from my laptop and seeing this number — 50K. I can see it vividly.

Dreaming… I love it. But let’s get to work.

Milestones

I go back to 3 months before the end of 2024. I see 30k.

I go back 3 months more — 10k.

I go back 3 months more — 5k.

That’s the approximate number I would rely on my whole journey to understand where I’m at and where I should go next. That’s my milestones.

I spend time on each milestone, making some adjustments and leaving some thoughts on how it can be done and proceed to the next goal.

Psyco Cycle

I repeat the same procedure for the next goal — cycle after cycle. I got all my Big 5 Goals ready for 2024.

I check time — 1h 46m. It’s even faster this year.

New page. I have added some final thoughts:

“Think wisely about what you want, because it might actually happen.” — and it did happened in 2023
