The Y
Where does the Y go?

There are lots of things to say about this particular letter. First things first and we have to admit it to ourselves, it is the 25th letter of the alphabet. Amen to that!
Well I guess you have found one thing that Y is. But surely there is something else. Right on; there is! High five!
Y is also a question, although spelt differently. It’s actually spelt W-H-Y. Why, the mystical question why. As a kid, all your questions are “WHY.” Why this, why that and the song goes on. But seriously folks, stop the fuss, Y is decent, why is noble, it’s high class. I have no idea why but that’s just the way it is. Why? You may ask. I can also ask myself. But as I told you before, I have no idea why! Period!
It´s also the name of a whole generation. The Y Generation. I do not know why we call it this way but I guess it’s just the way it is…. I wonder why. It’s only a rumor, but I hear it’s because of the speakers that have a Y shape.
The Y generation must be a musical generation. I wonder why. It’s the speakers you see!
It first leaves the pocket and the string detaches into two new cords, each reaching each ear. It’s that simple! Have you understood? Are you asking me why? Y, that's why! stop asking me unanswerable questions!
Let’s admit it to ourselves, The Y shape is cool, it’s symmetrical, have you noticed, I love it, don't you? It could have been used by the Romans. Yes, yes is! It so is! It could have been a Roman number. We had I for 1, V for 5, X for 10 and why not Y’s? Y could be 50, why? You may ask. I say why not!
Y is a Roman number I shall declare! Let me carve the Y shape into stone. Let me elevate it and mark it once and for all.
I shall conclude now. This tiny yet precious paragraph, the one you are about to read shall help us finish this magnificent yet troubled piece of Y. Piece of cake you said?! Oh no, it’s not, actually far from it. It’s a piece of us.
For all the reasons I mentioned above, THE Y is an elevating one, a noble and charismatic shape. Just like “ONE” elevates language said Michelle Scorziello, Y elevates the alphabet.
