The Writing Prof Is Seeking Writers and Submissions
Become a contributor to The Writing Prof and submit your stories about language and writing
Hello, and welcome to The Writing Prof, a publication designed for all writers regardless of experience level. We want your stories about writing and language.
The Writing Prof seeks high quality submissions to further understand what it means to write and work at writing. It is a collection of ideas about the art and craft of writing from a college professor and other writing professionals. We publish articles in 5 categories:
Writing Tips — all of your tips and tricks for writing, avoid writer’s block, handling procrastination, finding time to write, choosing the right pen or pencil;
The Writing Process — covering all the intricate details of the writing process, from prewriting and invention to outlining and planning to drafting and revising and editing. Finding agents, publishers, and publishing are all a part of the writing process as well;
Grammar/punctuation — do you have a favorite mark of punctuation? do you loathe the semi-colon as much as I do? does “should of” make you writhe in agony as if hearing fingernails on a chalkboard? Let us know all of your thoughts about grammar and punctuation. We even accept articles about the Oxford comma;
Language/books— We’re casting a wide net here. What’s a publication about writing if it doesn’t delve into language and books as well? Language can be anything language-related — informal vs. formal registers of language, slang, dialects, dialogue, narration and narrative voice. Write about your favorite books, fiction, non-fiction, self-help, comics. Anything counts as literature, even the backs of cereal boxes. Bonus points if you discuss the writing portion of language and books;
Personal Essays — Practicing good writing is as much about writing as it is about other subjects. We seek quality personal essays that delve into the mind of the writer. Your subject matter can be anything, but writing becomes that much more personal when writers strive to discuss their struggles writing about their personal subjects. Writing as a subject can be tangential here. We’re interested in your high quality personal essays on most any topic.
If you are a practiced and professional writer, you will know how to present your draft and what to expect from the submission process.
If you are new to Medium, you’ll find a helpful editor willing to help you reach levels of quality in your writing that will enable you to get accepted in any publication and help you gain experience with the publishing process.
