The Worst New Year: Ukraine Shelled Belgorod, and Russia — Kharkiv

The war kills both Russian and Ukrainian civilians

The New Year’s Eve became not a holiday but a tragedy for both fighting countries. After Russia’s massive attack on Ukrainian cities this Friday, December 29, Ukraine took revenge and in the daytime on December 30 bombed a near-to-the-border Russian city of Belgorod using Vilkha missiles with a prohibited cassette part and shells from the Czech Vampire MLRS.

As a result of the attack, in Belgorod 24 Died, from there 4 children. 131 were hospitalized, including 18 children. 37 apartment buildings together with 453 flats were destroyed.

Where Belgorod is located

“The nature of the injuries for all victims: mine-explosive,” the Russian Ministry of Health said.

On December 31, a meeting of the UN Security Council was held to discuss the attacks on Belgorod. There, the Russian Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzya claimed in his speech that the USA, Great Britain, and most EU countries are accomplices in the crimes of the Kyiv regime.

“As we have already stated, one of the tasks of our SVO within the framework of the demilitarization of Ukraine is to eliminate threats emanating from territories bordering Russian regions, including those that became part of Russia after the start of the SVO. The more they (these threats) are created for us, the tougher we will act, I think this should be clear to everyone,” Nebenzya said.

As well, the co-chairman of the Coordination Council for the Integration of New Regions Vladimir Rogov called this incident part of the UK plan to incite hatred.

“This is all part of the British scenario, the purpose of which is to incite blood hatred between relatives living in the southern Russian lands. By shelling Belgorod, the terrorists of the Zelensky regime intended to provoke Russia into a retaliatory strike on peaceful cities under Nazi control to further intimidate their population and force them to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he said for RIA Novosti.

Now, Russia will be even angrier for the West and will bring much more angriness in the coming year.

28 people were wounded, including two children, but no dead. One British journalist also was affected. 77 buildings were damaged, including 68 residential ones.

“A high-precision missile strike on the former Kharkiv Palace hotel complex destroyed representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who were directly involved in the planning and execution of the terrorist attack in Belgorod,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in its statement.

Both states held mourning events due to losses among their population. Thus, in Russia, to honor the memory of their fellow countrymen who died on December 30, Belgorod residents gathered near the art object in the shape of a heart with the inscription “Belgorod”, and brought their flowers, sweets, and toys. On the bench next to where people died, were put carnations with mourning ribbons.

This is horrible how simple people die (and, especially, on the holiday) in the fight between two governments for land and power. Did those 4 Russian kids killed care if Zaporizhia or Kharkiv were Russian? I do not think so. Or did that Kharkiv inhabitants in reanimation wish so much for revenge?

Imagine that you were preparing for New Year, packing gifts for your loved ones and accidentally you got killed by a Russian or Ukrainian bomb. And, in place of family dinner, you go to a cemetery.

Today is the last day of 2023. Instead of watching Home Alone movies, people around the world read the news about victims of the Russia-Ukraine war. This New Year became for us the worst New Year in our lives, with lots of blood and tears. And, what is the scariest, the 2024 New Year is not predicted to be better as the end of the war is still not visible at all.

How many more holidays in Russia and Ukraine will be converted to massacres?
